At last, Tesla met it’s rival, the new Nissan Leaf e+

With a resized engine and battery, the Nissan Leaf e + no longer fears the comparison with the Tesla Model 3. What are its real assets?

Additional options

Until now, the second-generation Nissan has been rewarding customers with its unique 110 kW engine, combined with a 40 kWh battery. A combination that is still in the catalog to deliver the equivalent of 150 hp and ensure a range of 270 km on the WLTP cycle.

The Nissan Leaf e + makes sparks

To play the scarecrow against the entry of the Tesla Model 3 in the USA,  the new Nissan Leaf e + is out with the heavy artillery. By loading a motor of 160 kW, delivering a close power 215 hp and an instant torque of 340 Nm, with a battery of 62 kWh.


Clio RS performance

We regret that this new Nissan Leaf e + does not muscle its pace by the aerodynamic kit Nismo. Which is available in Japan. She deserves. Insofar as she would not have to blush the comparison with a Renault Clio RS, of equivalent power. Note, however, that its attitude has been raised by 5 mm to allow the base to accommodate the extra lithium-ion cells (+ 96) which saved a lot of space on board.


385 km Range for the Nissan Leaf e +

It’s able to reach 385 km, according to the WLTP cycle, about 35 km more than the Tesla Model 3 standard, without being more expensive. Let’s take France Auto market as an example. It cost 45 500 €, launched in the summer of 2019. The endowment series will be sold in a limited edition of 5000 copies.
